The 24th China International Metallurgical Industry Exhibition and the 3rd Steel Structure Building Industry Chain Exhibition opened on 21 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, a highlight event of the 2nd China International Steel Week. The three-day joint exhibition is held under the concept of "steel cohesion, linking global business opportunities", focusing on high-end, intelligent, green and integrated development across the steel value chain.
CISA Chairman Liu Jian, CISA Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Jiang Wei, academician Zeng Bin, president of the China Steel Structure Association, and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Managing Director Liu Guoliang attended the opening ceremony, together with representatives from steelmakers including HBIS Group, CITIC Special Steel, Jingye Group and Shagang-linked enterprises.
Speaking at the opening, Jiang Wei said 2026 marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period and a critical year for the steel industry to advance capacity reduction and quality transformation. He said the industry will focus on three priorities over the next five years: improving product quality to rebuild the industry ecosystem, deepening energy and carbon efficiency to activate green development, and accelerating digital-intelligent transformation as a new engine for industrial upgrading.
The joint exhibition covers nearly 150,000 square metres and brings together more than 1,000 domestic and international exhibitors, with an expected 120,000 professional visitors from steel, construction, transportation, energy, automotive, home appliance, engineering machinery and shipbuilding sectors, connecting upstream raw materials, midstream equipment manufacturing and downstream end users on one floor. Organisers said the metallurgical exhibition will mark its 40th edition in Beijing from 1-3 September 2027.
